I grew up in Utah. During the Summer we are scorched by the sun with temperatures climbing to triple digits. But the evenings are beyond perfect. After the hot afternoons the cooler evening air feels like a sigh of relief.
For me the perfect Summer day involves being poolside. The sun is so bright and so hot that your phone becomes obsolete. The afternoon involves reading, napping, chatting, and dipping in the water anytime you get too hot. At about 3:00 the UV drops and you go inside and get ready. Nothing feels better than brushing your hair after the post-lay-out shower. Minimal makeup because you look sun-kissed. And putting on a comfortable outfit for your evening plans.
I’ve put together five outfits for perfect summer evenings such as these:
park picnic
These jeans from Arket are my current summer favorite, I’ve sized up so they don’t have the cropped look. A perfect white tee, the one pictured is from Reiss. Some fun earrings from Wolf Circus. A pearl anklet from Jenny Bird. A silver pebble chain necklace from Monica Vinader. Braided madewell tote in Blue. And Havaianas so you can slip them off and put your toes in the grass.
backyard wedding
I love the idea of having one or two really smashing wedding guest outfits that you feel really great in that can be your go-tos for Summer weddings. This dress is Ulla Johnson sold at Tuckernuck. The earrings are Dorsey, I think these are so eye-catching. The shoes are repettos, of course don’t want to wear stilettos in grass, and these ballets have a small flat heel. Lastly, the locket is from Monica Vinader.
neighborhood walk
I added a couple top options for this look. I really love the look of this short sleeved Terry sweatshirt from Arket. Looks especially chic paired with a white shirt underneath barely poking out the collar. I also love these sweater tanks, the white one is from Arket and the grey one is Alex Mill. The gold heart necklace and bracelet are both Dorsey. They can both be engraved. The earrings are also Dorsey. I think pairing the more blingy earrings with a chill outfit feels balanced. The jeans are my absolute favorites, Levi’s baggy dad Jeans. I have one pair that is true to size and another pair that is 2x my normal size- if you like how they fit the model in the picture I would do this. Last but not least- two different boat shoe options- the top from Arket and the bottom from Sezane.
tennis or pickleball
Perfect for a match and then getting ice cream after! Jumpsuit is from Aritzia, I would recommend sizing up in these, they can be quite tight. The jacket is from the imparfaite Many Many Clothes Sample sale. I think the large would fit a small the way it does in the added pictures- it looks sooo cropped in the other pictures on the website when it’s TTS. I love these New Balances. And then of course accessorizing with some jewelry that won’t tarnish when you sweat and you won’t even notice while you play: Dorsey pavé huggie earrings and a small ID Monica Vinader locket.
dinner date
I’d love to wear this outfit sitting on the patio of The Dodo (my favorite SLC restaurant) on a Friday night. Top is the Doen Henri top. I love the neckline of that top with layered necklaces. Recently I saw this woman in London I think wearing this same Mango necklace layered with a silver necklace and it looked so cool and chic. I know I know so much Monica Vinader jewelry but I’ve just been loving everything they’re making lately and I feel it’s a reasonable price point for quality jewelry. (This particular locket (925 sterling silver) is $102 including the engraving.) The pants are again the Levi’s baggy dad jeans- I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong with these. And the shoes are G.H. Bass loafers. I love loafers regardless of season. And lastly, the maraschino cherry atop the Shirley Temple, an engraved pinky signet ring from RG by the sea.
Cheers to Summer evenings and perfect Summer days and perfect Summer outfits on perfect Summer evenings.
xx,
